THE NEVER ENDING TOUR/ /YO MAMA ON ITUNES// SUMMER SHOWS

Dearest Friends

We write to you from California, tonight (actually twas a week ago now but lets just pretend…) we play the last night of our US tour in Los Angeles. We’ve been on the road now for nearly 4 months mostly in the dream that is a Winnebego and we want to thank everyone who has come out to all the shows in UK, America and Europe. It means a lot to us to see your friendly faces on these faraway shores.

Whilst we’ve been on the road in the US we’ve been recording a video in each city at various famous and not so famous locations. They are all up on various local blogs around North America and also on our Youtube site which you can find here.

Last year we released the first song from our yet to be released album on our dear friends Chess Club’s 7” label but since then we have found a home at the wonderful Wichita Records and they were feeling left out so they are releasing the song - Yo Mama - on Monday July 5th as a digital single accompanied by two covers. One is of Guns of Brixton by The Clash. We worked out the song for a one off show celebrating London at the Barbican earlier in the year and thought it would make a nice little B-side so there it is. The other is a version of All In My Grill by Missy Elliot which we’ve been playing live for a little while. You can listen to all three songs here…

Over the summer we have some festivals coming up as well as a few shows in London. We played at Glastonbury last weekend bright and early on the Friday morning - thanks to everyone who grabbed their cornflakes and came and sat on the lovely hill that was the Park Stage, it was a glorious way to start our summer.

After that we have the following shows coming up-
1st July - supporting the incredible Laura Marling at The Serpentine Session in Hyde Park
9th July - LOUNGE ON THE FARM FESTIVAL
10th July - EASTLEIGH FESTIVAL
13th July - Wichita 10th birthday show @ The Garage, London w. First Aid Kit and Meg Baird
20th July - Xfm X-posure live at the Camden Barfly (tickets)

A nice lad called Jonathan took some photos of us after our show at The Great Escape in Brighton - here we are complete with string section…

Before we go, lots of new Tshirts over here

Listen, watch and read

Depending on how frequently you click onto the site you’ll see in the left hand corner a small list that is updated every so often with what the band are listening to, watching and reading whilst on tour, at home, or promoting their record. Thought it was about time we focused some attention on this rather lovely thing.

BLOG

we’re on a neverending tour.

its glorious but a tiny bit tiring.

We just had a day off and I was going to go and watch Iron Man 2 but then i thought what if I fall asleep and miss some amazing scenes, a bit of romance between RDJr and Gwyneth or some kind of CGI dream so I decided to save it for another day.

After the beautiful campsites and traumatic experiences of our first European tour we’re back in the homeland playing a mix of free shows, festivals and normal, regular gigs up and down the country.

After that we will be returning to the U S of A just in time for the release of our album there on Yep Roc Records on June 1st.

Words about Fossils And Other Phantoms.

Clash: “The dual female vocals transport and transcend into beautiful plateaus of heartbreak and hoedowns with a a gritty edge unrivalled by their peer”

The Guardian 4 stars
“Rosa Slade and Katy Young sing with a lilting sweetness that is wholly deceptive, belying the undercurrent of fury in their lyrics, the agitations of their music… they combat melancholy though with some startlingly abrasive, PJ Harvey-style guitars, giddy whirls of accordion and a thrilling array of clattering, thundering, sharp and snappy percussion. Loud And Quiet: “‘Fossils And Other Phantoms’ is superb. It captures all the raw power of their live shows with enough production sheen to make this a great debut record. .. It’s been worth the wait”

N.M.E: “It’s in terms of sheer vocal prowess that Peggy Sue really come into their own, the duo’s spine-tingling harmonies elevating them from pretty damn impressive to all-out, head-over-heels brilliant”

Q Magazine: “On their amiably unvarnished debut, ‘Fossils And Other Phantoms’ Peggy Sue are a bit punky, a bit folky, even a bit rockabilly, but always refreshingly themselves”

The Sun: “There must be something in Brighton’s salty sea air…with their twin lead vocal assault Peggy Sue kick up a raw, riotous, rootsy sound aided by guitar, accordion and power-house percussion”
